Birth of Tea Trends

Our story as a tea specialist has been brewing for over 20 years. It took root in 1996 as a supplier for threads used in tea bags, for a single customer. By 1998, we had grown to be a preferred supplier to a wide network of clients and as they grew, so did our passion for tea and catering to global trends. We ventured into another aspect of the supply chain with the addition of a single tea bagging machine. For the next two years, we honed the craft of tea bag packaging to take the finest Ceylon Tea to the world.

Tea Trends Exports was established as a premium packaging company but our founders’ passion for tea and Start with something down the lines of “This is when Tea Trends Exports was established” Having established Tea Trend Exports as a premium packaging company, our founders poured their love for tea into the art of tea blending and by 2000, we were directly exporting tea to the USA and in 2001, we started supplying the Japanese market.

Our dedication to quality and innovation led us from a single tea bag thread order to a single packing machine to being a global supplier of Ceylon Teas and herbs, within a short period of time. Our first factory premises in Mattakkuliya began with just over 5,000 sq.ft. Operated by 15 staff, and by 2014, it had expanded to a 12,000 sq.ft. facility with over 50 employees.

Today, our team of over 200 employees power the operation of our state-of-the-art 100,000 sq.ft. facility in Wellampitiya, delivering exciting blends of the finest tea, to the world.s

Tea manufacture is the process of transformation of freshly plucked green tea leaves to black tea. The process itself is long, requires much care, attention, control and a scientific understanding of the complicated physical and chemical changes in the leaf as the manufacture progresses. There are several distinctive processes that take place in the manufacture of black teas.
